Yesterday my husband took a Metro Taxi home from DIA. This was a business trip and in order to get reimbursed by the company he needs to pay with a corporate credit card. After a long trip, and that long ride from DIA, then he had to sit in a hot cab in front of our home for twenty minutes while the driver repeated attempts to use the card and claimed "it did not work." HAH. A corporate card that doesn't work? Since when? Finally, the cab drove off with my husband inside, and the driver took him to the bank, where the card worked perfectly. We called this a.m. to ask about this weird episode. The clerk found the transaction and that the card had been repeatedly entered with one number wrong. Was this an attempt at a scam? Was the guy expecting my husband to give up and pay him in cash, which would be fiscally better for the cab driver? I only ask because anyone who takes credit cards all day long generally looks carefully and doesn't continue to enter the same wrong number over and over and over...does the guy need glasses? Most companies have a "ooops, the next ride is on us" coupon or some such compensation for poor service. Metro Taxi does not, or at least offered no such thing to us when we called. My husband is a regular traveler, and took a Metro Taxi from the airport instead of Yellow Cab this time because he thought he'd save a little money. After a hassle like that, I'm sure you can understand why he says he won't be using Metro Taxi again. We will also be writing and warning others about this experience. Too bad you couldn't see fit to treat this member of the business travel public with more kindness. Sincerely, Jean Scott.
